Ceylon and its Spices

Island of Ceylon, Sri Lanka, also known as the Pearl of the Indian Ocean, offers a stunning natural beauty coupled with a rich history of spice cultivation that spans over centuries. A hidden spice gem unknown to the world till ancient Greeks, Romans, Arabs, and Chinese took it to the rest of the world.

This centuries old mystery opened the door to the colonials to explore the spices to their part of the world – conquered by Portuguese, Dutch, and finally by English.
